The Peak of Flu Season

The flu is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses and is most commonly spread through coughing or sneezing by someone who has been infected with the virus. The timing of flu is unpredictable and can vary from season to season. Flu activity most commonly peaks in January or February and it can continue as late as May.

 Take an active role in reducing your risk for and the spread of influenza by doing the following:

  • Avoid contact with people who are sick
  • If you get the flu, stay home from work, school and social gatherings to avoid spreading illnesses
